A Letter received by Messrs. J. H. Dart and Son, from their home at Terceira, dated Terceira, Dec. 6, states :-
We had a very heavy gale from SE on the 30th, and, during the night, the English schooner Maria Louise, of Fowey, Captain Dingle, and the Portugese hiate San Joaquin, were driven ashore at Porto Neve, and, in a few hours, became complete wrecks. Fortunately the crews of both vessels had landed previous to the gale. As much as possible saved from the wreck of the Maria Louisa, and disposed of. 26.12.79
