NOTES
[1] From Lloyds List June 2nd 1860 column 1 :
Sandwich arrived 31st, Mary, Randall with loss of anchor in Aldboro' Bay
in the gale of 28th.
(N.B. Other reports in Lloyds List showed that this NNW gale caused lots
of casualties among shipping, of which loss of an anchor is trivial
by comparison.)
There is a bit of a mystery here. Abraham Ellery was supposed to have
taken over as Master on 25th May 1860. But the above Lloyds report gives
"Randall" as Master. Did Ellery claim to be Rundle for some reason? Did
the Sandwich Lloyds agent get the Master's name from out of date records?
